A new leaf
Early March. Singing chiffchaffs and fluttering brimstones are hints that spring is on its way. For nature photographers, we’re reaching prime time. And it feels due.
These past winter months, a combination of unfortunate weekend weather, insomnia, and bad luck has led to a suboptimal update to my portfolio. To keep me busy with my hobby and to distract myself from the somewhat drab conditions out there, I promptly decided to allocate resources to the website. A month ago, this space looked quite different. Only blank home page and empty galleries accompanied the only part I had thought out; the part I find most important - the ‘on ethics’ section.
My goals for this website are simple. First, I wanted a central space for my photos that people can look up (and to prevent stuff I like from rotting somewhere in Lightroom or my file explorer. Second, I felt I needed a place to write out my brain spirals. Ideally, this place should be flowing in the way that I like: full of thought-out brain leaps. A photo here, a talk about my insomnia later. An ethics deep-dive, followed by a fun moment in the field. We’ll see how this space develops ;-)
With spring around the corner, I’m hoping new photos and thoughts will flow in sooner rather than later. Keep an eye out for the ‘Macro’ and ‘Dutch heritage’ galleries, especially, as well as a brand new gallery from my upcoming trip to Spain. I will add the latest highlights to the home page.
I’m now in the final stages of developing this space. The last steps include meticulously selecting and removing photos from the galleries, ensuring all the links and buttons work, and writing the first blog post. If you’re reading this, I have succeeded in finalizing this space to a standard I’m content with. (More on standards in the future, I’m sure).
Thanks for reading. See you soon :)
